The Taste of Tega Cay event benefits on-going ‘Neighbors’ aid project.
Tega Cay Neighbors Helping Neighbors originated in Tega Cay, but has excelled far beyond Tega Cay. This organization has gone beyond the city limits to help people in need throughout York, Lancaster, and Chester counties.
This nonprofit organization was formed six years ago. Since then it has raised more than $400,000 for families in need.
They have helped people after a job loss, paying for the rent and utilities. Some are even long-term, such as when they assisted it a family for several years while the father was unable to work.
The Abouissa family of Clover is being taken care of right now by the Tega Cay Neighbors organization. The Abouissa family’s mother was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver, the father is disabled, and both children have autoimmune disorders, Bill Stumpf (organizer) said. The family has no insurance, so the Neighbors Helping Neighbors is helping by bringing meals and providing finical aid.
Taste of Tega Cay is being held on June 18 from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at the Tega Cay Golf Club. Food vendors from local restaurants will offer “tastes” of some of their dishes. For $10, guests will get to taste 10 things.
Vendors include Tilted Kilt, Village Pizza, Casual Water, Carlos Café and Kickin’ Pig, among others. Tickets will be on sale in advance at Yadkin Bank on Gold Hill Road, Professional Insurance on Gold Hill Road, or at the event. There will also be a DJ and beer and wine vendors.
